Harry E. Kaufman
HESSTON -- Harry E. Kaufman, 105, retired farmer and painter, died Friday (July 26, 1996) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
He was born Sept. 1, 1890, in Pratt county to Eli and Magdalena Steckley Kaufman. He married Anna Boeckner on Dec. 17, 1911, in Nebraska. She died Dec. 30, 1970. He married Erna Schmidt on Feb. 11, 1979, in Newton. She died in 1982.
He lived in Crystal Springs and moved to Hesston in about 1918. He was a member of the Hesston Inter-Mennonite Church in Hesston.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd of Buhl, Idaho, and Glen of Howard; three daughters, Erma Miller of Filer, Idaho, Alta Graber of rural Newton and Fern Bontrager of Haven; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hesston Inter-Mennonite Church with the Revs. Duane Yoder and Waldo Miller officiating. Private burial services will be in the Eastlawn Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
