Obituary

Raymond A. Smith, 76, of Hesston, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born November 15, 1934 at Wilder, the son of Harry and Stella Schulp Smith. He was a veteran. He worked construction and was a member of Local 1290.

He lived in Halstead for four years and Hesston for four years. He was a charter member of the Bible Baptist Church, Bonner Springs, and a current member of the Grace Baptist Church, Hesston.

On June 8, 1956, he married Patricia Dale at Bonner Springs. She survives. Other survivors: children, Kevin of Springfield, Missouri; David, Hesston; Joyce Kraauss, Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren; two brothers, George of Joplin, Missouri; Frank of Overland Park; three sisters, Alma Keeton of Stayton, Oregon; "Eleanor Quinlan, Edwardsville and Jessie Krauss of Sedgwick. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Truman, Edward and Harry and three sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Helen Park and Ruth Smith.

Services were held Monday, September 12 at Grace Baptist Church, Hesston with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hesston City Cemetery.
