Obituary

Howard J. Vogt, 79, died March 24, 2011. He was born August 14, 1931 the son of Harvey O. and Mary E. Ewy Vogt. He graduated from Halstead High School in 1949. He then graduated from Bethel College and Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, where he earned degrees iin Industrial Art, English, Literature and English as a second language.

He was a teacher and guidance counselor in Arizona and California for many years, as well as being a farmer. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Halstead.

In 1951, he married Alice Hosie. She survives. They are divorced. Other survivors: son, John C. Vogt (wife, Karen), Norton; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a step great grandchild and special friend, Ellen Voth of Hesston. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian J. Vogt.

A memorial service was Saturday, April 2, at the Church with Pastor Cleo Koop officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
