Knauss, Dixie L.

Dixie L. Knauss, 86, died at her Newtoon home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. She was born August 9, 1925 in Wichita to Alva John and Mabel Manerva Jones Marley. She graduated from East High School in Wichita in 1943.
On November 2, 1946, she married Clifford D. Knauss in Long Beach, California.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from Newman Universtiy (formerly Sacred Heart College) in Wichita. She followed this up with specialty training in Hematology from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She worked for St. Francis Hospital in Wichita as a Medical Technologist and taught in the School of Medical Technology. In 1978, she served as Worthy Grand Matron of the Kansas Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton.
Her loving family includes her husband, Clifford: sons, John Knauss of Virgin, Gorda, British Virgin Islands; Jeffery and his wife Mary Angela Knauss of Pearland; Douglas and his wife, Debbie Knauss of Prosper, Texas; Clifford (Chuch) and his wife, Annette Knauss of Hesston; daughter-in-law Dee Knauss Lemons; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Jack E. Marley and wife, Irene of Port Ludlow, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Allen Knauss and brother, Bill Marley.
A celebration of life was held Saturday December 17 at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Cheryl Jefferson Bell presiding.
