Base, Vivian E.

Harvey County Independent

Vivian E. Base, 77, Sedgwick, died Friday, September 8, 2000 af Via Cristi Regionl Medical Center in Wichita. She was a homemaker and a registered nurse. She was born July 10, 1923 in Bentley, Kansas, daughter of John W. Baxter and Lola Pearl Wilson Baxter.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wichita. She was a musician, seamstress, church youth sponsor, a braille teacher, a portrait and scenery artist, and made procelain dolls along with painting china. She had a great love of nature, especially mountains, eagles and birds.

She married Quentin L. Base in Bentley on October 4, 1941. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Gary Base, Sedgwick; daughter, Patty Grecian, Palco; four brothers, Virgil Baxter, Bentley; Orvan Baxter, Sedgwick; Dean Baxter, Jefferson City, Missouri and John Wayne Baxter, El Segundo, California; sisters, Donita Berger, and Connie Nordstedt, both of Sedgwick; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday, September 12 at Petersen Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Matthews of First United Methodist Church, Wichita and Dr. Paul Davis from Preferred Medical Associates officiating.

Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick. Memorials to HopeNet, Inc.
