Morrison, Vern F.

Harvey County Independent

Vern Morrison, 80, Sedgwick, died Sunday, December 24, 2000 at his home. He was born August 9, 1920 at Isabel, son of Robert Adolph and Metta Blankenship Morrison. On February 24, 1942, he married Lorraine Alloway in Milton. She survives of the home. He was a teacher for 35 years, most of them at Sedgwick High School. He also coached high school football, basketball and track. He served in the Medical Corp in World II. He played football for WSU and enjoyed WSI Sports. He was a member of the Lions Club, Zion Lutheran Church, Newton and the American Legion. Other survivors: son, Douglas Ray Morrison, Denver, Colorado; daughter, Linda Morrison, Wichita; five brothers, Bob Morrison, Hutchinson; Dave Morrison, Brighton, Colorado; Jim Morrison, Pretty Prairie; Ralph Morrison, Newton and Ray Morrison, Hutchinson; three sisters, Shirley Albright and Geneva Poe, both of Milton and Wilma Wilkerson, Wellington; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Morrison. Funeral services were Thrusday, December 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, Newton with the Rev. Ronald Gloe officiating.
