Penner, Florence M.

Harvey County Independent

Florence M. Penner, 78, mother of Marlow Penner, Sedgwick, died May 16, 2000 at her h ome. She was born October 3, 1921 at Newton, the daughter of Jacob L. and Anna M. Peters Schroeder. A lifetime Newton resident, she was a self-employed tax preparer for 46 years.

She belonged to First Baptist Church, Newton, and the American Business Women's Association. She was a company clerk in the U.S. Army during World War II.

She married Wilbur Robuck of Halstead. He preceded her in death, being killed in action during World War II. She married Charles E. Stone, he preceded her in death. On December 1, 1972, she married John F. Penner. He survives.

Other survivors: two sons, Robert Stone, Chicago and Lyndal Penner, Hutchinson; three daughters, Barbara Stone Hackney, Newton; Lorene Ely, Phoenix, Arizona; and Cheryl DuFriend, Kansas City; brother Vernon Schroeder, Edwardsville and sister, Rosalie Borgendale, Wamego; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday, May 21, a First Baptist Church, Newton with the Rev. Alden Dick presiding. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton.
