Wendling, Wallace Clayton

Harvey County Independent

Wallace Clayton Wendling, 90, Mr. Hope, former Halstead area resident, died December 26, 2000 at the home of his son in Haysville. He ws born June 8, 1910 at rural Halstead, son of Victor J. and Mary E. Carter Wendling. He was a farmer, stockman and a retired parts controller for Boeing Aircraft, Wichita.

He was a 1932 graduate of Halstead High School. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and entering antique tractor pulls. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.

He married Margie Marie Cotton on June 5, 1935. She survives. Other survivors: son, Richard Wendling, Haysville; brother, Kenneth Wendling, Wichita; four trandsons and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Gene Wendling and Larry Kent Wendling and two sisters, Irene Wendling and Merle Chamberlain.

Rosary was December 28 at Kaufman Funeral Home. Funeral mass was Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
