Carrie (Base) Dalke

Carrie Dalke, 100, Moundridge, former Halstead resident, died Sunday, December 16, 2001 at Moundridge Manor, Moundridge. She was born April 12, 1901 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, the daughter of Henry Martin and Susan Becker Base.

On November 21, 1920 she married Henry Dalke at Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma. He died June 6, 1976.

A Halstead resident since 1954, she was a homemaker and a housekeeping and dietary employee of Halstead Hospital. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, and the Women's Mission Society, Halstead. In 1996 she moved to Moundridge.

Survivors: three sons, Herman Dalke, Burrton; Norman Dalke, Yukon, Oklahoma and Edward Dalke, Hesston; three daughters, Ruby Unruh, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; Ruthie Nightingale, Carnegie, Oklahoma and Edith Unruh, Halstead; 30 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren and 10 great-greta grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Irwin Dalke; five brothers, Jake Base; Dan Base; Isaac Base; Pete Base and Willie Base; three sisters, Lena Schmidt; Mary Schmidt and Anna Dalke; one grandson and one great grandson.

Services were held December 21 at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Pastor Cleo Koop officiating. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
