Matlack, Don Clyde

Donald Clyde Mtlack, 72, Clearwater, formerly of Burrton died Wednesday, December 26, 2001 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born June 18, 1929 in Halstead, first of four children born to his parents, Orval Millard and Blanche Harris Matlack.
Except for one year in Oregon in 1935, he spent his childhood living near Burrton and attending Burrton schools. He graduated from Burrton High School in 1947 and from Kansas State Universityin 1951 with a B.S. degree in business administration.
On June 10, 1951 he married Ardena LaVonne Williams at Carlton. He joined the United States Naval Reserve in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He graduated in 1957 from Washburn University School of Law, moving to Clearwater Kansas at that time. He was admitted to practice in the Kansas Bar in 1957 and in the U.S. Supreme Court in 1969.
Survivors: His wife of the home; two daughters, Cindy Manley, San Jose, California; Roxanne Mrasek, Plattsmouoth, Nebraska; three sons, Terry Matlack, Shawnee; Rex Matlack and Tim Matlack, Washington, Kansas; two sisters, Nancy Kays, Claremont, California and Elaine Watt, Agoura, California; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren.
He was precedeed in death by his parents and an infant brother, James Warren Matlack.
Services were December 29 in Clearwater at the United Methodist Churcy. Interment was in the Burrton, Kansas Cemetery.
