Mueller, Amelia Katherine

Amelia Katherine Mueller, 90, died at Kidron Bethel Health Care Center in North Newton, on Sunday, October 14, 2001.
She was born near Halsted on August 27, 1911 to Jacob and Elizabeth Ellenberger Mueller. She attended public schools in Deer Creek, Oklahoma and graduated from Halstead High School. She attended Bethel College where she earned a teachers certificate. She received a bachelors degree from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia and a masters degree and certificate as a speech clinician from Colorado University, Boulder. She also studied at Kansas State, Wichita State, Ohio State and Northwestern universities and at the Institute of Logopedics, Wichita.
She taught in various public schools in Kansas, at the American Dependents School, Ansbach, Germany and at Bethel College. She was a speech clinician and a teacher of deaf and hard-of-hearing children in the Hutchinson schools.
In 1976, she married Adam Mueller at the Halstead Mennonite Church where she was a member. They lived in Halstead until 1999 when they moved to North Newton.
Survivors: husband; two stepsons; sister, Doris Mueller Ewy; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest B. Mueller and Jacob H. Mueller; sisters, Hilda Caroline Shaum and Elfriede Stucky.
Services will be held at the First Mennonite Church on October 18. Burial will be in Halstead Cemetery.
