Obituary

Alice E. Zimmerman, 102, former Burrton and Halstead area resident, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born February 13, 1899 at rural Burrton, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Sirris Vollweider.

On February 25, 1920, she married Samuel Richard Zimmerman at Bentley. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1968.

She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Burrton and Halstead area until moving to Hesston in 1996. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Halstead Hospital Auxiliary and American Legion Post No. 231 Auxiliary, all of Halstead.

Surviovors: son, Richard, Salina; daughter, Pauline Crawford, Mission, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Zimmerman; daughter, Nadine Zimmerman; two brothers, Frank Vollweider and Hans Volweider; one sister, Anna Thach; and one granddaughter, Anita Kay Zimmerman.

Services were December 29 at Kaufman Funeral Halstead, with Rev. James Bush presiding. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
