Obituary

Minnie Jo Base, 82, Burrton, died March 3, 2002 at her daughter's home in Greenwood, Missouri. She was born June 2, 1919 at Hutchinson, daughter of Abraham and Gertrude Goertzen Schrader. She graduated from Hutchinson High School. She had been a resident of Burrton since 1937, moving from Hutchinson. She was employed by the former Wiley's Department Store, Hutchinson, as a buyer and clerk until she retired in 1981. On June 6, 1937, she married Henry Charles Base at Hutchinson. He died March 19, 2000. She was a member of the Burrton Mennonite Church. Survivors: daughter, Mindy Sue Scanlan, Greenwood; two brothers, Harold Schrader and James Schrader, both of Hutchinson; three sisters, Ruth Stafford, Hutchinson; Esther Rand, California and Mary Spaniol, Wichita; 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Base and a sister, Ruby. Services were held Marcy 6 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel in Hutchinson. Burial followed in the Burrton Cemetery.
