Obituary

Ruth Thelma Myacinth Best, 89, Burrton, died March 10, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson. She was born May 20, 1912 in Newton, daughter of Everett and Bessie Nott Sharp. She was raised in the Council Grove area, living in Dunlap until 1944 when she moved to Burrton. She was a longtime Burrton-Halstead area resident.

In 1934 she married James Ray Best in Council Grove. He died September 15, 1982.

She was a graduate of the Bushong High School. She was a homemaker and a retired medical technician at the Hertzler Clinic in Halstead.

She was a member of the Burrton United Methodist Church. She belonged to Ruth Circle of the church and to the Aurora Club.

Survivors: two sons, Robert R. Best, Bushton and Harlan E. Best, Hutchinson; three daughters, Patty I. Biehler Harman, Hutchinson; Judith E. Mayfield, Hutchinson and Lynn L. Bayles, Cummings, Georgia; two brothers, Lowell Sharp and Leland Sharp, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services were held March 16 at the Burrton United Methodist Church with burial following at the Halstead Cemetery.
