Obituary

LeRoy W. Seitz, 880, Newton died January 14, 2012. He was born July 6, 1931 near Lehigh. His parents were Fred and Martha Ollek Seitz. He married Jeanne Loewen on January 7, 1955. She preceded him in death in 2003.

He was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad for more than 35 years. He enjoyed traveling and attended many American Legion functions, including every National Convention from 1979 to 2009. He loved people and looked forward to outings with his extended Legion family.

His pride and joy was his son, Brad, daughterin-law, Cindy and two grandchildren, Kyle and Katie, all of Overland Park.

LeRoy met Pat Durnil of ElDorado at the 2005 American Legion National Convention in Hawaii. She became a loving companion and best friend until his death. Pat was accepted as one of the family and enjoyed traveling and attending all gatherings with LeRoy, both family and social.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Cindy; grandchildren, Kyle and Katie and three sisters, Frances McRae, Norma Young and Doris Stubby. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, and sister, Ruby Pool.

Services were Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
