Obituary

Lorene R. Downing, 84, Sedgwick, died December 3, 2002 at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater. She was born November 30,. 1881 in Mayes County, Oklahoma, daughter of Irvin Ray and Dorthy Garner Owens.

She married Leonard Wright on December 30., 1933. He preceded her in death. She then married Harold Downing on April 26, 1976 at Pryor, Oklahoma. She and her husband moved to Sedgwick from Pryor in July 2002.

Survivors: her husband of the home; daughter, Nola Mae White, Seattle, Washington; two sons, Blaine Wright, Sedgwick and Merle Wright, Topeka; brother, George Owens, Broomfield, Colorado; two stepsons, Chuck Downing, Wichita and Roger Downing, Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Linda Sue Donahoo, Overland, Park, Kansas; sister, Nora Nance, ElDorado; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Owens.

Services were held December 5 at Petersen Funeral Chapel in Newton. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick.
