Harvey County Independent
Carl Raymond Hamm Sr., 85, Valley Center, formerly of the Burrton and Sedgwick area, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born December 5, 1916, the son of Thomas Myron and Frances Leona McKenry Hamm in Burrton.
On September 4, 1937 he married Lilian Mae Walker. She preceed him in death on November 21, 1986. He married Gail Dumar October 6, 1990 in Sedgwick. She survives.
He was a member of the Sedgwick Christian Church; Masonic Lodge No. 142 A.F. & A.M.; the York Rite-Arkansas Valley Chapter No. 27; the Toltec Club and was past associate guardian of Jobs Daughters, all of Newton. He was also a member of the Consistory and the Shrine of Wichita.'
Other survivors: two sons, Carl R. Hamm, Jr., Wichita and Myron G. Hamm, Gunnison, Colorado; stepdaughter, Rowena Sonmore, Brownsville, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe T. Hamm.
Services were March 9 at the Church with Rev. Kim Beckwith officiating. Masonic burial rites were conducted. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
