Obituary

Edgar O. Knauss, 97, Newton, stepfather of Richard Thrasher, Halstead, died Friday, Septembeer 13, 2002 at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton. He was born September 12, 1905 at Poughkeepsie, New York, son of Samuel Friedrich and Amanda Louise Nickse Knauss.

He was a retired station operator for Edison International, California. He attended First United Church, Newton and belonged to Long Beach California Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

On November 12, 1922, he married Ada M. Connor at Poughkeepsie, New YHork. She died Aril 13, 1975. On July 3, 1977, he married Dorothea Weber Thrasher at Newton. She survives.

Other survivors: son, Clifford Knauss, Newton; daughter, Jane Welding, Long Beach, California; stepdaughter, John Stahly, Newton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steward F. Knauss; two sisters, Evelyn Gulick and Margaret Knauss.

A Memorial service was held at Friendly Acres Chapel with Chaplain Pam Martinez presiding. Peterson Funeral H ome, Newton was in charge of arrangements.
