Reaves, Frank Jr.

Frank Reaves, Jr., 87, Wichita, formerly of Halstad, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002 in Wichita. He was born March 12, 1915 at Cliton, Tennessee to Frank and Lucille Shull Reaves, Sr.
In Februry 1920, the family moved to Ravenden, Arkansas where Frank grew to manhood. He graduated with the Class of 1933 from Williford High School, Williford, Arkansas. In August 1938 the family moved to Halstead.
In October 1941 he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his discharge in 1945, he went to work with the Santa Fe Railroad as a printer clerk. In August 1950, he was recalled from inactive duty and served in the Air Force from August 1950 to August 1951. He was honorable discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon his discharge, he returned to work with Santa Fe Railroad and moved to Wichita.
He was a member of VFW Post 3544, Winfield and American Legion Post 4 at Wichita. He served as post commander of the VFW during which time the post built a new meeting hall. He was baptized in the Baptist Church in Tennessee. He regularly attended the Martinson Avenue Christian Church in Wichita.
Survivors: sister, JoAnn Reaves Osbourn, Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathleen Moore and 3 brothers, Paul, Lloyd and Gene Reaves.
Graveside service was August 9 at Halstead Cemetery. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
