Obituary

Violette R. Stocks, 91, Newton, native of rural Sedgwick and sister of Pearl Kater of Sedgwick, died November 3, 2002 at Prebyterian Manor, Newton. She was born October 10, 1911 at rural Sedgwick, the daughter of George W. and Ellen S. Stein Stamm. She was a grduate of Sedgwick High School and worked as a medical aide at Friendly Acres.

She married Otis Stocks at the family home in Sedgwick. He died in 1962.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Newton and the American Business Women's Association. She was also involved in various Bible Study groups.

Other survivors: son, Wilbur A. Stocks, Enid, Oklahoma; brother, Willis Stamm, Glendale, California; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and son, Kenneth D. Stocks and two brothers, Lester Stamm and Melvin Stamm

Services were held November 9 at Petersoen Funeral Home, Newton. Memorial funds may be sent to Hospice Care of Kansas.
