Baehr, Marvin Chris

Harvey County Independent

Marvin Chris Baehr, 82, Neweton, formerly of Halstead, died May 29, 2003 at his home in Newton. He was born January 31, 1921 at Halstead, the son of Christian and Helen Mueller Baehr.

On February 2, 1942 he married Betty McAfee in Newton. She survives of the home. He was a rural mail carrier and farmer. He served ith the U.S. Army in the 99th Dixie Division in the Pacific. He was honorable discharged in December of 1945.

He moved to Newton when he was one year old. After serving in the Army, he returned to Newton and worked for the Santa Fe Royston Motor Company and spent 30 years with the Newton Post Office, 15 of the years was as rural carrier on Route #2.

Other survivors: two sons, Marvin R. Baehr and his son, John, Wichita; Randall Chris Baehr and his wife Son Chae, Savannah, Georgia; one grandson, Justin Baehr and two granddaughters, Ashley Baehr and Christine Baehr. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services were held May 22 at Memorial First Missionary Church, Newton. Graveside service was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.
