Obituary

M. Ruth Pannell, 76, retired Wesley Medical Center LPN, died on Friday (Feb. 10, 2012) at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was born on Oct. 2, 1935, in Concordia to Harold Vernon and Mary Ruth (Swengel) Smith. She was a member of Cedar Pointe Baptist Church in Wichita. Survivors include two stepdaughters; brother, David Freeburg, and sister, Judy Freeburg, both of Halstead; two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Paul Freeburg; son, Cecil Ray Pannell; daughter, Erma Arlene Pannell; and a brother, Harold Vernon Smith. Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., both at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Memorials may be given to Caring Hands Humane Society, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home of Halstead.
