Obituary

Betty Lorraine Stahlheber, 82, Newton, Halsted native and the mother of Alan Stahlheber, Halstead, died January 12, 2003 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born June 19, 1920 at Halstead, the daughter of John Fred and Ethel Howard Safe. She married Norman B. Stahlheber on June 29, 1941 at Halstead. He died November 23, 1979.

Mrs. Stahlheber, who graduated from Halstead High School in 1938 was co-owner, with her husband, of Parkview Florist and Nutsery in Newton from 1947 to 1967. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Newton.

Other survivors: two other soons, Kent Stahlheber, Yuma, Arizona and David Stahlheber, Hesston; three daughters, Karen Wedel, Nancy Brooks and Betty Schmidt, all of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, John Safe and a sister, Aileen Luther.

Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Dean Von Stroh with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
