Ward, Henry Allen

Harvey County Independent

Henry Allen Ward, 77, Halstead, died Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Halsted Health and Rehabilitation, Halstead. He was born October 18, 1925 at Minneapolis, the son of Henry Kinsey and Leona Boucek Ward.

On June 6, 1948, he married Marion Maxine Buffington at Delphos. She survives of the home in Halsead.

He was a commercial printer for Bankers Check Company, Halstead and was a former Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific during WW II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Post 231, Halstead; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 971, Newton; National Rifle Association; Williams Grove Old Timers, Hutchinson Regional Group of the Horseless Carriage Club of America; Winchester Speedway Old Timers Club of Winchester, Indiana and was a former member of Kansas Sheriff Association and Big Car Racing Association.

Other survivors: three daughters, Carol Ann Holle and Julie Alina Crebs, both of Halstead and Susie Ward Aber, Emporis; sister, Mary Ann Anschultz, Russell; 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Lee Holle.

Services were held January 7 at Kaufman Funeral Home. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
