Obituary

Gertrude Wedel, 90, former Halstead resident, died October 23, 2003 at Moundridge Manor. She was born November 18, 1912 at Galva, the daughter of Henry W. and Rachel Jantz Wiggers. She had been a Moundridge resident for 9 years, moving from Halstead. She was a former Halstead Hospital and Hertzler Clinic employee and was a homemaker.

On November 6, 1932, she married Ervin Wedel at Galva. He died on January 24, 1974. She was a member of Grace Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Halstead.

Survivors: four sons, Everett Wedel, ElCampo, Texas; LaVern Wedel, Okolona, Mississippi; Verlin Wedel, Ingalls and Norman Wedel, Wichita; one daughter, Karolyn Unruh, Halstead; two brothers, Glenn Wiggers and Allen Wiggers, both of Halstead; three sisters, Claribel Dirks, Hsston; Pricilla Seiler, Moundridge and Elma Jean Yost, Detroit, Texas and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Wiggers and two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Bertha Buller.

Services were held October 27 at the Church conducted by ministers Kenneth Smith and Dean Becker. Burial followed in the Halstead Cemetery.
