Obituary

Mattie Smith Paine was born in Peru, Indiana died on October 21, 1865 and departed this life March 1, 1939. She came to Kansas in 1878 with her parents the family settling in Burrton. She was married to William D. Paine June 7, 1883 by the Rev. Elliot of the Christian Church. Mr. Paine preceded her in death September 17, 1930.

She made the good confession and was baptized by immersion in April 1892.

She is survived by a son, Karl A. Paine, Chicago and twin daughters, Mrs. Joe Harnar and Mrs. Bob Dole, both of Burrton; one grandson, Karl Jr. and wife, Beula and one great grandson, Frederick, all of Chicato; twin sister, Mrs. W. R. Tedrick of Hutchinson; three helf sisters, two half brothers.

She was one who deeply loved her home and family and as long as her health permitted, she was generous in giving of her time and talents to help others. In her long residence in Burrton, she had many friends.
