Burrton Newsppaper
Harry Harris, prominent Burrton politician and property owner died July 7, in his home here at 11:30 p.m. Thursday of a heart attack. He had been ill eight years, but his health lately had been improved seemingly.
He was born in Newcomers Town, O., April 10, 1875, he moved to Reno County in 1892. He came here in 1917, buying the lumber yard in Burrton. Mr. Harris operated the lumber yard and a hardware store here with his sons.
He had been a Democratic member ofthe state legislature two terms, and was delegate to several national Democratic conventions. Mr. Harris was a member of the Burrton Christian Church, and the Burrton Masonic lodge. He was also a veteran of the Spanish American War,
Surviving him: his widow, Mary of the home; four daughter, Mrs. George Galloway and Mrs. J. E. Thompson, both of Wichita; Mrs. John Merritt, Haven and Mrs. Orval Matlack, Burrton; two sons, Warner and Harold E. Harris, both of Burrton; brother, Grover C. Harris, 309 East 16th, Hutchinson; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Kniht, Oakland, California and Mrs. Anna M. Wofford, Roseburg, Oregon and 11 grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at the Christian Church in Burrton, Revs. F. R. Shively and Glenn Mathew officiating. Burial will be in Burrton cemetery with AF & AM 182 officiating.
