Obituary

Laura Allise Harris was born in Madison county, Ohio on July 5, 1986 and departed this life on December 10, 1950 in her home at Burrton, at the age of 87 years, 5 months 5 days. She was stricken with a heart attack at her home at 1 o'clock and succumbed at 3:10.
She had been in fairly good health during recent months and her death was unexpected.

She came with her parents to Cofey county, Kansas in February 1871 from where she later moved to Butler county. She was converted and united with the Methodist church at the age of 16 years and was a member of the Burrton Methodist church at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage with Dr. J. W. Hempstid, ho was at that time practicing medicine in Avilla, Comanche county, Kansas. They came to Burrton in 1889, where he practiced until he received his last call in 1932, from our Heavenly Father that his work on earth was finished.

To this union were born two boys, Dr. Irl E. Hempstid of Hutchinson and Ora S. Hempstid, who passed away December 1908 at the age of four years.

Mrs. Hempstid was the eldest of a famioy if eight children born to Jacob and Mary Harris, all of whom have preceded her in death.

She is survived by the son, Irl of Hutchison and one grandson, Richard, of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Services wer held at the Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Matthew officiaging. Burial was in the Burrton cemetery.
