Hoskinson, Clarence Douglas

Charence Douglas Hoskinson was born September 2, 1895 in Valley Township, son of Charles D. and Lillie Hoskinson. He lived his entire life in he Burrton vicinity with the exception of time spent in the service and in the Veterans Hospital, Wichita, where he departed this life on April 3, 1958. At the time of his passing, he had attined the age of 62 years, 7 months 1 day.

On April 20, 1913 he was united in marriage with the former Clytie Jerome and to this union four children were born: Virginia (Richard) Hawkins of Fort Worth, Texas; Herman Douglas Hoskinson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Marguerite (Wayne) Parker of Burrton. One daughter, Dorothy May preceded in death in 1943 at the age of 18 years.

After marriage, he and his family made their home on a farm in the Pleasant Grove Community for 1 2 yers. Ill health necesitated a move to Burrton in 1931, where he engaged in the insurance business, which he followed until incapacitated by further illness in 1954. He then entered the Veterans Hospital in Wichita, as a quadraplegic. There for four years, he received the most skilled and devoted care and made many wonderful friends.

He was a member of the Burrton Methodist Church and Emmett Neuway Post of American Legion, having served in World War One in the 69th infantry, 10th Division.

Survivors: in addition to his wife and 3 children; sister, Mrs. Glenn Davis, Burrton; two brothers, Carl of Burrton and Everett of Hutchinson.
