Obituary

George Raymond Hess, 80, died Saturday morning at the Friendly Acres home in Newton after a brief illness. He was born June 1, 1888 in Adams County, Illinois, he came to Halstead in 1909, married Lizzie Hansen March 2, 1910 at their rural farm home. She died July 1, 1961. He was a farmer for many years, retired in March of 1956 and moved to Burrton. He was a member of the Burrton United Methodist Church; SF & AM Lodge No. 182, Burrton, where he received his 50 year emblem in 19162 and OES Chapter No. 129.

He is survived by a son, Orville, Halstead; daughter, Mrs. Frank (Irene) Vollweider, rural Burrton; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services were held at the Church. Burial followed at Halstead Cemetery with the Masonic rites.
