Findley, Earl V.

Earl V. Findley, Burrton Contractor, died Saturday, April 15, 1972 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born April 4, 1900 at Keystville, Missouir. As a youth, he grew up on a farm in Riley County, Kansas. He married Dollie Mae Dodds on January 17, 1924 in Salina. She died in 1969.

To this union four children were born: Mrs. Earlene Neuway, Burrton; Virgil, Burrton; Charles, Gage, Oklahoma and Fred, Burton.

He worked for the Kansas Power and Light Company before going into gusiness on his own in charge of a machine and welding shop at Bushton. Here, he invented a cable-hoist lift for trucks and received a patent for it in 1949.

He started a construction company in Hutchinson, moved it to Burrton, and was active in this capacity until his death. He moved to a farm northeast of Burrton in 1953. Here he farmed and raised cattle. He moved into Burrton in 1966.

Funeral services were conducted from the Burrton Methodist Church on April 18. Burial was in the Burrton Cemetery.
