Buckle, Gary

The Newton Kansan

Gary S. Buckle, 47, died on Sunday (March 4, 2012) at his Newton residence.

He was born on Dec. 6, 1964, in El Dorado to Frank and Frances (Wehry) Buckle. On June 22, 1987, he married Kim Coons in Newton, and she survives of the home. Gary was a pipefitter and iron worker for Conco Construction. He enjoyed bowling at Eastgate Lanes in Newton, golfing and especially enjoyed fishing in his “special places.” He was a baseball fan and football fan and enjoyed following Royals and Chiefs. Gary greatly enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends. He also enjoyed spending time in antiquing and junking and playing with his loveable dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Kim and their daughter, Charli of Newton; his mother, Frances Wehry Buckle of Florence; three brothers, James Buckle of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Steve Buckle and John Buckle, both of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Delores Buckle of Whitney, Texas; brother-in-law, Doug Coons of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Gary Bell presiding. The family will greet friends prior to the service time. Memorials are suggested to Central Care Cancer Center, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
