Schoenberger, Jule

The Newton Kansan

Jule Loyde Schoenberger, a former resident of Chapman and a resident of Newton, passed away on Thursday (March 1, 2012) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, at the age of 65.

Jule was born on Oct. 28, 1946, in Junction City. His parents were Patrick and Dorothy Schoenberger. He attended school in Chapman, and he moved to Newton when he was 15 years old. He lived with his aunt and uncle, Genevieve and Loyde Arf after his mother passed away. In 1967, he was married to Sheryal Ann Rodgers in Newton. He worked on a construction crew doing hard labor. He had to quit his job due to health problems, and he volunteered his services for The Newton Kansan at the Newton Area Senior Center. He was awarded an accommodation from President Bill Clinton for his volunteer work. He also volunteered many hours at his church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Newton. He loved God, and he wanted to give back as much as he could.

He is survived by one son, Troy Teater of Newton; three daughters, Julie Brillenz of Bridgeport, Calif., Cori Snaer of Olathe and Willa Bassett of Fouke, Ark.; one sister, Patsy Baker of Westmont, Ill.; one half sister, Peggy Heigrick of Beloit; three brothers, including his twin brother, Joel Schoenberger, and John Schoenberger, both of Illinois, and Charles Schoenberger of Kansas; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Dorothy Schoenberger.

The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 106 E. Eighth St. in Newton, followed by visitation with the family. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Mainzer will officiate. Graveside service and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 2069-2650 Ave. in Chapman. Father Henry Baxa will officiate. Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton or the Newton Area Senior Center, sent in care of the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431. The Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman is in charge of the arrangements.
