Obituary

Friends and loved ones in this communiity are saddened at the sudden passing of Bertha Luella Davis, who passed from this life into the presence of her Saviour, Saturday, November 8th at the Halstead Hospital. She was born to Elmer and Josie Eveland in Independence on January 2, 1898. She grew to womanhood in Skiatook, Oklahoma, with her two brothers, Jessie and Carl, who preceeded her in death.

She married James Davis on October 18, 1920 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. To this union were born three children, Arthur James who died January 1963, Luella Josephiine and Gerald Lee. She leaves six grandchildren.

To all who knew Bertha, she was a kind, loving person; one who gave herself to the needs of others. She was a living example of Paul's admonination "to be kindly affectioned one to another, with brotherly love in honour preferring one another." (Romans 1 2:10). To her family, she was a devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful helpmate to her husband for 55 years and a loving and self-denying mother.

Funeral services were held November 11 at the Burrton United Methodist Church. Burial was in Burrton Cemetery.
