Paige, H C
The Burrton Monitor
Died. On Monday, April 21, 1884, Mr. H. C. Paige, aged 55 years.
Funeral services ere held in the M. E. Church, Tuesday at 3 p.m. Rev. Akers preached the sermon. Mr. Paige was an old soldier and was a member of Farragat Post G.A.R. of this place. He was born in Licking County, Ohio. He enlisted as a private in Company D, Ohio volunteers for a period of three years and was discharged therefrom as private, at Louisville, Ky., on the 6th day of July 1865. Mr. Paige stood high in the ranks and was well known by his friends as a loyal citizen and a good man.
During his illness he was waited on by a committee appointed by the G.A.R. and every attention was rendered him which was in their power to tender to their suffering comrade.
His remains were escorted to the train by a body guard who fired a last salute over their comrade before placing him on the train which was to bear his body to the place of interment, Lathrop, Mo.
