Obituary

Dan T. Schmitt, resident of Halstead since 1882 died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon. He was well known aroound the county as a real estate dealer and as a farm manager for Dr. Arthur E. Hertzler.

He was the son of Jacobb E. and Elizabeth Baer Schmitt. He was born March 12 1882 at Halstead and passed away September 7, 1946. He lived his whole life in or near Halstead, with the exception of four years when their home was at Geary, Oklahoma.

Mr. Schmitt was married to Ada Pleasant at Geary, Oklahoma on December 30, 1909. To them were born four children: three sons, J. Erwink of ElDorado; Dale W., Wichita and Glenn M., Halstead; and one daughter, Mrs. Jean Wedel, Moundridge. He was a member of the First Mennonite Churchh of Halstead.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Pleasant Schmitt; his four children and four grandchildren. Also by one sister, Mrs. Selma Krehbiel of Maize, Kansas.

Services were held September 10 at the Church. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
