Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn McClure departed this life at the Halstead Hospital on Monday, August 5, 1946 having reached the age of 100 years, 6 months, 26 days. She was born near Henryville, Indiana on January 10 1846, and was the youngest child of a large farmily.

She was married to John McClure on December 24, 1868 at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Abner Biggs. They lived on an adjoining farm for about 14 years, then purchased a larger place which they farmed successfully until they passed their 60th year - when they retired from active farming and moved to Colorado. Here they made their home for about 20 years.

In 1918 they celebrated their golden wedding and in 1923 moved to California where they planned to spend the rest of their days. Mr. McClure was in poor health and on June 6, 1925 was called to him home.

In August 1927 Mrs. McClure came to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Wiard. Although a semi-invalid for most of time, she was very patient and never complaining, always looking out for the bright side of live. Her memory was good almost to the last..

Services were conducted at the First Methodist Church on August 9, 1946. Burial w as in Halstead Cemetery.
