Coffman, Ralph

Harvey County Independent

Ralph Coffman was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Sedgwick. He was born September 25, 1928 in rural Sedgwick to Vic and Thelma L. (Duncan) Coffman. He was their only child.

He married Pat Hinton on June 20 1951 in Newton. They were married for over 60 years ad had three children; Greg, Jamie and Kelley.

He worked for Cudahy Packing for 27 years and later on, Thies and Hudson for 18 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a farmer and worked long hours in the Kansas summers and winters. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, cook and gardner. He and his "Grand Dog" were tremendouw companions through the years. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was a cancer survivor. However in October 2011 he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. During this difficult time, his family gathered around him and showed great support and care for him.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; Son, Greg Coffman, Sedgwick; daughters, Jamie (Ira Lee) Wolfe of rural Sedgwick and Kelly (Jerry) Cordell of Sedgwick; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Thelma Coffman and grandparents, Martha (Hanby) and Allan Ray Duncan.

Graveside services were held March 15 at Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial to Victory in the Valley and Hospice Care of Kansas.
