Obituary

Dolores "Lola" Rodriguez, 70, died on Tuesday (March 27, 2012) at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

She was born on April 10, 1941, in Valley Center to Pilar and Jospehine (Garcia) Gomez. She married Juan Rodriguez Vela on June 14, 1971, in Miami, Okla., and he survives of the home. Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Juan Rodriguez Vela of the home; a son, Juan and wife, Nancy Rodriguez of Newton; daughter, Monica and husband, Paul Mosqueda of Newton; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Fran Martinez of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ramon Gomez, and sister, Elsie Snapp.

A visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday (April 2) with the Rev. Juan Garza presiding. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be prior to the service at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton. Memorial donations may be made to Monica Mesqueda for the Dolores Rodriguez memorial fund. Petersen Funeral Home of Newton is in charge of arrangements.
