Henry J. "Hank" Golbeck,. died September 20, 2004 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice patient Unit, Wichita. He was a resident of Sedgwick since 1948. He was born January 30. 1920 at Hillsboro, son of the late Henry and Ottilla Unruh Golbeck. He served three terms as mayor of Sedgwick, from 1959 to 1961 and 1963 to 1967.

He was Southwestern Bell combination man for 38 years serving Sedgwick, Bentley, Mt. Hope, Colwich and Andale. He was a member of 1st Christian Church, Sedgwick, serving as a teacher for the evening youth group, the young married class and the older men's and women's class. He was a member of Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268, Sedgwick and a WW II Army veteran serving in the China, Burma and India Theatres. He faithfully attended his grandson's ball games

He married Marie A. Fellers on August 23, 1941 at I ndependence, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters; Elaine Sundbye and husband Keith, Halstead and Shirley Ragland and husband Harold "Butch" of Wichita; five grandsons; six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Garfield, Ofield and Lloyd Golbek and sister, Lula Waterfall.

Services were held September 23 at the Church in Sedgwick. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
