Kenneth A. Lehman, 79, Owasso, Oklahoma, former Halstead resident, died Friday, February 6, 2004. He was born July 14, 1924 at Halstead, son of Jacob Ernest and Emma Mae McCart Lehman. He was reared and educated at Halstead, graduatiing from Halsted High School in 1942.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, fighting in France and Germany during World War II. After his discharge, he continued his education on the GI Bill, attending the University of Houston where he earned his bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering in 1950. He spent most of his working life in the career he loved, working as a drilling superintendent for 30 years with ARCO and AMOCO in Louisiana, Texas, the North Sea, Libya, Canada, South Africa, Peru, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

He married Verna Jean Miller June 4, 1949 at Galena Park, Texas. He and Verna had made their home in Owasso since 1996. He was a member of the Owasso VFW Post 7180. He was an avid hunter and competitive bridge player.

Survivors include his wife of the home; twin sons, Melvin Lehman, Jasper, Texas and Keith Lehman, Bristow, Oklahoma; daughter, Carol Lehman, Owasso; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Bansemer, Grace Valley, California; Mary Powers, Great Bend; and Barg Freeman, Liberal, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and one sister, Helen Lehman.

Services were held February 9 at Halstead Presbyterian Church with burial in Halstead Cemetery.
