Obituary

Betty J. Dirks, 83, North Newton, formerly of Burrton, died September 25 at Kidron Bethel Home, Newton. She was born October 12, 1922 at Cushing, Oklahoma; daughter of Charles N. and Lola L. Dawson Rose. Both preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and member of the Burrton United Methodist Church. She was a longtime resident of Burrton and lived in the Kidron Bethel Home for the last four and a half years.

On October 5, 1942 she married Harold C. "Curtis" Dirks at McPherson. He survives of the home. Other survivors: son, John Dirks, Independence; daughters, Linda Bowers, Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Pamela Falk, Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Wanda Dawson, Reedley, California; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Shaw.

The funeral was a private family graveside service with the Rev. Larry Ankrom officiating. Inurnment was in Burrton Cemetery.
