Edmonds, H. Vincent



H. Vincent "Eddie" Edmonds, 86, of Overland Park, former Halstead resident, died July 6, 2005 at Garden Terrace, Overland Park. He was born November 30, 1918 at McLouth, son of Elmer A. and Jesse Courtney Edmonds. He married Berniece E. Lingenfelder on March 8, 1945, in Newton. She survives.

He was a music teacher for 38 years, including time at Halstead in the middle 1940s. He retired from Leavenworth Public Schools in 1981.

He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1936, earned his music education degree in 1941 and his master's degree in music composition and theory in 1949 from KU. He did post graduate work at Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a past member of the Congregational Church, Anthony and attended Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park. For the past six years he was organist for Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Overland Park.

Other survivors: sons, Alan R. Edmonds, Overland Park and Kent L. Edmonds, Lomita, California; daughter, Kathryn A. Ballou, Leawood; brothers, Ernest Edmonds, Leroy and Leonard Edmonds, Tucson, Arizona.

Services were held July 9 at the Church in Overland Park. Graveside services were July 11 at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
