Obituary

Katherine Regier Holzrichter, 90, Newton, a former Halstead resident, died Februry 1, 2005 at Newton Medical Center. She was born in Inman, Kansas on July 28, 1914, daughter of Martiin W. and Anna Friesen Doerksen.

She married Carl C. Regier on May 22, 1941. He died November 11, 1981. She married Jacob A. Holzrichter on April 13, 1991. He died April 26, 2992.

She had farmed in the Sedgwick, Halstead and Newton areas, worked as a cook at Halstead schools and worked at Halstead Hospital. She was a past member of the First Mennonite Church in Halstead, the 72 Quilters and Mary Martha Mission Society, all of the church in Halstead. She also had been the cooking leader for the Macon Happy Hour 4-H and a member of the GMH Home Demonostration Unit and was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church.

Survivors: five daughters, Anna Marie Harder Willis E.) Newton; Katherine Kaufman (Gary) Overland Park, Kansas; Marlene Bachtel (Jim) of Lenexa, Kansas; Carla Singer, Miami, Oklahoma; Kristine Regier, Clear Lake, Iowa; sister, Marie Goering, Aurora, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.

She was prceded in death by three brothers, Hank, Menno and Marvin Doerksen and son-in-law, Ken Singer.

Funeral services were held February 5 at Buhler Mewnnonite Church. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
