Jackson, Johnnie L.

Johnie L. Jackson, 64, Newton, died May 1, 2005 at Moundridge Memorial Home in Moundridge. He was born July 8, 1940 at Gainsville, Texas to Walter and Katherine Dooley Jackson.

He owned and operated several businesses during his working career. He had a restaurant in Dallas, Texas and several roadside fruit stands in Oklahoma. He is best known as the operator of Johnnie's Fruit Stand on Highway 50 in rural Newton which he ran for nearly 25 years. He always loved his work and looked forward to spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors: sisters, Laura Newton, Denton, Texas; Betty Jackson, Irving, Texas; Lou Jean Gillmore, Haslett, Texas; Juanita Larkins, Lane, Oklahoma; brother, James Jackson, Newton, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfther, Matt Tucker, brother Bobby Jackson and infant brother, Andrew Jackson.

Graveside services wer held May 4 at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas. Rev. Phil Fischer officiating
