Hege, Paul Peter

Paul P. Hege, Wichita, died March 29, 1990 at St. Francis Regional Center, Wichita. He was born July 5, 1905 in rural Sedgwick, son of Jake and Barbara Leisey Hege. He married Margaret A. Guber December 24, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was a retired master tool and die maker. He worked for Swallow Airplane Co; Travelaire Co; Beech Aircraft Corp; Cessna Aircraft Co; Reardon Aircraft Co. and Culver Airplane Co. HGe retired from Wichit Brass and Aluminum Foundry in July of 1983. He was a pilot, a metallurgist and whiz with machinery, who designed, bult and flew his own one-seater of welded pipes and fabric covered wings. He was 26 when he sewed the material on his mother's sewing machine and assembled a little plane at his family's farm near Sedgwick.

Survivors: wife of the home; two daughters, Norma Lee Metzker, Wichita; Barbara Mehuron, Arkansas City; two sisters, Esther Ashcraft, Enid, Oklahoma and Hulda Bewick, Larchmont, New York; 4 grandchildren.

Services were held at First Christian Church, Wichita. Internment ws in the Halstead Mausoleum on the following day.
