Rasmussen, Marguerite Schriver

Marguerite Schriver Rasmussen, 83, Olumpia, Washington, former Halstead resident, died March 1, 2005 at Olumpia. She was born April 3, 1921 at Halsted, the daughter of Richard L. and Hannah Hauschlidt Schriver.
She was a teacher and counselor. She was a 1939 graduate of Halsted High School and received a bachelor'e degree from Southwestern College, Winfield in 1943 and a masters degree from Wichita State in 1958.
She married Jack K. Rasmussen on March 20, 1970 at Cottage Grove, California at which time she became a wife, mother and grandmother all at once. He died September of 1995.
Her priorities were reflected in her 32 year career as an educuator and counselor in public schools and church-related colleges. During her early teaching career, she spent some time teaching at Halstead High. Following her retirement as an educator and counselor, she spent an additional 12 years in crisis intervention counseling and senior citizen job placement counseling She was committed to being the best she could be and encouraged others to do the same. She was a constant source of inspsiration with her humor, intellect, wit and loyalty.
She was a member of the Methodist Church; OES; and American Assoc. of University Women.
Survivors include two step-sons: Ralph Rasmussen of Florida and Dan Rasmussen of California; stepdaughter, Jean Lewis, Hawaii and sister, Helen Nightingale, Olympia, Washington. She was prceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Albert Schriver II and Richard Schriver II; sister, Catherine Shriver, Coover.
Services were held March 7 at Kaufman Funeral Home. Burial was in the Halsted Cemetery.
