Smith, Minnie Faye

Minnie Faye Smith, 94, of Hesston, died August 21, 2005 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born December 29, 1910 at rural Newton, the daughter of William C. and Mamie Drier Molzen. They preceded her in death.
She was a founding member of Highland Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Newton. She was also the first member to be baptized in the church. She graduated from Newton Public Schools. She married Roy H. Smith at Highland Church on October 2, 1930. He preceded him in death on May 9, 1985.
She will be remembered for her great cooking, especially here graham cracker pie. She enjoyed spending time with her family and looked forward to babysitting her grandchildren as they were growing up. She crocheted afghans for her family members to have as a keepsake. On Saturday afternoons, one could find her enjoying her favorite Lawrence Welk espisodes.
Survivors include daughters, Marilyn and Richard Knott, Hesston; Kathy and Ted Stein, rural Sedgwick and Joyce and Steven Hanes, Halstead; son, William "Bill" and Sylvia Smith, Hesston; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grand children.
Also preceding her in death were her brother, Harold Molzen and sister, Neva Grabill.
Services were held August 25 at the Churchh with Pastor Sheree Boman anbd Schowalter Villa Chaplain, Beverly Baumgartner preciding. Burial will be in Highland ?Cemetery, rural Newton, Kansas.
