Amy Ellen (Woodward) Sommerfeld

Amy E. Sommerfeld, 90, Hesston, mother of Jerry Sommerfeld of Halstead, died December 2, 2005 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born November 26, 1915 in Burrton, daughter of Alfred and Ethel Boyd Woodward. She married George Sommerfeld on April 30, 1937 in rural Moundridge. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and member of Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston.

Other survivors include sons Stan Sommerfeld and wife, Janet and Lyle Sommerfeld and wife Marj, all of Sharon Springs; Jerry Sommerfeid's wife, Jeanne, Halstead and Glen Sommerfeld and wife, Marcy, Kinsley; daughters, Janice Dyck, Moundridge and Elva Bantner and husband Michael, Overland Park; sister, Ruth Martin, Kirksville, Missouri; 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Sommerfeld; four brothers, Ben, Alfred, Frank and Bob Woodward; sisters, Nellie Dyck, Katie Farratt and Clara Goodner.
Burial was December 6 at Eastlawn Cemetery, Jesston. Memorial service followed on the same day at Whitestone Mennonite Church.
