Wedel, Vernon Dale

Vernon Dale Wedel, 84, died November 30, 2006 at Invinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming. He was a bricklayer and stonemason and a 50 years resident of Halstead, having moved to Laramie in July 2006.
He was born June 2, 1922 at Elyria to Jacob J. and Mary T. Krehbiel Wedel. He marrieed Maureen L. Kenworthy on September 3, 1957 at Las Animas, Colorado. She survives.
He was a 1939 graduate of Moundridge High School and a WW II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Halstead; Ruth-Wilson American Legion Post 231, Halstead and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1824 of Burrton-Halstead.
Other survivors: sons, Dale Wedel, Laramie, Wyoming and Maurice Wedel and his wife, Leslie, Medicine Lodgge; grandsons, Tanner and Theron Wedel, Medicine Lodge; and sister, Lois Medley, Fountain Hills, Arizona.
His parents; a daughter, Bernice Wedel; brothers, Robert and Gene "Speed" Wedel and sisters, Marjorie Graber and Betty Wedel preceded him in death.
Services were scheduled for December 6 at the church in Halstead with Rev. Jennifer Whitt officiating. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
